Parenthèse owes its name to the idea of creating an innovative, pleasant, and versatile “break” in the heart of the UQAM library. We designed study, reading, and exhibition spaces accessible to all students, notably by creating a cube supported by a metal structure, with two sides enclosed by wire mesh. This space allows students to sit comfortably, store their books underneath, and relax in complete simplicity. This wire mesh is also found on the sides of the shelves and in the alcoves, offering students the opportunity to freely display their work.
